Lack of skilled people is preventing the EU from investing more in green technologies, according to a European Investment Bank survey of more than 12,500 enterprises and 685 authorities.
The warning comes as the EU gears up to raise funding for green investments despite growing US competition.
According to the EIB’s annual investment report, which was released later on Tuesday, more than 45% of businesses and 60% of local governments surveyed said that a skills gap, particularly in the engineering and digital sectors, was preventing projects that address climate change from moving forward.
The research, which is based on polls taken in 2022, further stated that “investments to limit climate change are increasing but are still significantly below what is needed to meet Europe’s target of net zero emissions by 2050.” Read more-
