DAAD president Joybrato Mukherjee claims that Germany is experiencing a skills gap even as it continues to draw more and more international students.
“We need to think about both developments together and show international students the path to a professional career in Germany more effectively and in greater numbers,” he said.
They are highly qualified and integrated, and we ought to harness their great potential as skilled workers in Germany more strategically.
According to the most recent skilled labour survey conducted in Germany, there will be around 240,000 more job openings in 2026 than there are labourers to fill them.
